Affectation is annoying because, well, it's "affected" e.g., an add-on, phony, like wearing a halloween mask to work. Awful. Theorize as we may, all you need is narcissism to explain it - reflects the times in which we live - millions of people seeking to escape conformity by adopting the uniform of the "cool" - the tattoo. baiyuantongbeihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01479626003758266020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3126820724492651318.post-40755880827191739362017-11-19T21:10:38.707-08:002017-11-19T21:10:38.707-08:00https://youtu.be/593lAzKsQ7U?list=PLbyzL1PBpopWcxA...https://youtu.be/593lAzKsQ7U?list=PLbyzL1PBpopWcxAXuQ7NPZaKJCsKQwsPt

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=593lAzKsQ7U&index=7&list=PLbyzL1PBpopWcxAXuQ7NPZaKJCsKQwsPt&t=31s

Here is the correct HTML link to Ms. Froggy and her monopoly on Vocal Fryzippyjethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11051612666190480608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3126820724492651318.post-63501257360844347672017-11-19T20:52:01.641-08:002017-11-19T20:52:01.641-08:00A lot of women and girls have it. I watch mostly British programming on TV and you almost NEVER hear this - the women's voices are almost always pleasant and well-modulated. If you watch American TV from the 50's, say, "Perry Mason," the women almost all had pleasant voices.
It is uncomfortable to bring this subject up because young American women don't need something else to make them feel bad about themselves - but you wonder what can be done to counter this weird trend. It is not uncommon to hear a young woman being interviewed on some news report and think, "my gawd, can you imagine having to listen daily to that harsh, nasal, grating voice?" jeffhanna7https://www.blogger.com/profile/17073344337494605524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3126820724492651318.post-4454778449913128152017-08-01T19:10:32.416-07:002017-08-01T19:10:32.416-07:00I've given up on listening to NPR. I find myself muting the television almost all of the time a woman speaks (commercials, newscasts, shows, EVERYTHING!). I'm a woman and, no, this is NOT sexist like many are arguing it is. My ears actually hurt and I am irritated when I hear these voices. I sometimes try very hard to just listen, but I can't do it. These comments have been going on since 2010 and I remember the TV commercials weren't as inundated with those voices as they are now. I keep searching the net hoping to find someone who's very influential in the world to pick up this topic. But the few articles I've read recently avoid the "elephant in the room" and immediately hide behind the sexist argument. It's physiological, because my ears hurt.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3126820724492651318.post-46873401899215567152016-09-03T13:54:31.244-07:002016-09-03T13:54:31.244-07:00I'm on Hope Solo's side when it comes to e...I'm on Hope Solo's side when it comes to equal pay, but I also think this voice affectation diminishes a woman's authority. A lot of men have adopted it as well - one of the worst examples of the "strep-throated" scratch is Eric Bolling on Fox. If ever in conversation with people affected with this abomination, I ask them "what's wrong with your voice?... Do you have polyps growing on your vocal cords? And, you should see a doctor immediately". Then I end the conversation because "I don't want to contract the disease", and leave. I have no idea why these people don't realize it's an extremely vile and ugly sound, and in my mind, wreaks of the lowest IQ denominator. They all make my ears itch and teeth sore.
